W. Lee Shertzer

W. Lee Shertzer, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC®

Lee Shertzer began his career as a financial planner in 1985 to do what he loves most – working with people and helping others manage their finances through the many challenges that life brings. In 1995, Lee started NORLANCO Financial, LLC, an independent firm representing Mennonite Mutual Aid (MMA) in its work with local churches. During the next 13 years, he built NORLANCO’s team from two to 15 members who managed $150 million in assets. After the company was sold in 2008, Lee made the decision to join the Stewardship Advisors, LLC team so he could continue to focus on providing independent financial advice without the pressure to sell company products.

Over the past 27 years, Lee has evolved his business from general financial planning to include specialization of investment management and serving institutional clients, as well as individuals. He has devoted countless hours toward continuing his education and becoming a CFP®, CLU®, and ChFC® professional as well as a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®).

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
John C. Simkins

John C. Simkins, CFP®, ChFC®

John’s career and approach have evolved over time. Compared to when he started with Morgan Stanley back in 1997 as a stock broker. Today as a CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional he is able to use his wealth of experience and knowledge he has gained across various sectors of the financial services industry.

Prior to his decades in financial services, he learned the day-to-day responsibilities of running multi-million-dollar businesses for fortune 500 companies. His internship at Walt Disney World during college was followed by management positions at multiple Marriott facilities and with several other companies. Across his varied life experiences, John has refined his core values: prioritize Christ, lead with the heart of a servant, act with integrity, pursue excellence, and embrace change.

In October of 2011, John helped establish Stewardship Advisors, LLC. The firm was founded on the belief that the client is the most important person in an advisory relationship. Working in a fee-only, fiduciary relationship reinforces his commitment that every client is the center of the decision-making process.

John’s approach to working with his clients starts with creating their personalized financial plan. John is a firm believer in starting with a plan, then working through the investments, which provides a more unified approach. His clients delegate the day-to-day management of their investments because of their ability to verify results, their understanding of their unified financial plan, and how the investments align with their goals.

John’s clients enjoy his leadership through the complex world that finances intertwine. John’s favorite question is, “Help me understand that.” According to John, guiding a client requires understanding what is important to them and using their values to direct the decision-making process. His experiences and training help him not only explain the variety of options that are available but help provide clarity on which ones could provide the outcome intended. The more assets you have and the complexity of those asset types, tend to present a greater number of choices available. Along with never-ending changes in tax code requires a consistent periodic review of the financial plan.

John provides two investment themes for his clients when it comes to investment management. These themes give you a choice of investing in the general market or Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) combination with Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) criteria as well. John sees value in both approaches and understands the limits of each. John has been working with SRI, ESG investing since 2002.
